We pride ourselves on providing quality parts to our customers, and as such, we choose to follow the standards set by two different international organizations: The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE International).  The standards in question are recommended for quality management systems, with the idea being that a quality management system provides controls for the quality of part production to ensure a consistent, high quality of work. Both standards apply to a company, not a person or people within the company, so they are not tied to specific employees but to The Toolroom as a whole.

What this means to you as a customer is that we have a rigorous system in place to ensure the same level of high-quality work across the board throughout our processes. We obtained a certificate of registration for ISO 9001:2015 and AS9001D by an outside auditor and the certificate is good for three years.

ISO standards are set by the International Organization for Standardization and are accepted worldwide, meaning that products, services and systems that adhere to ISO standards measure up to a level of quality seen at companies whose products and services are sold around the world. ISO 9001:2015 is a non-industry specific certification and is intended for any organization that wants to implement and maintain a quality management system.

The International Organization for Standardization was formed almost three quarters of a century ago “to facilitate the international coordination and unification of industrial standards.” Now, that organization has members from 164 countries and 783 technical committees and subcommittees to develop standards. The organization has published more than 22,680 international standards covering almost all aspects of technology and manufacturing, according to the ISO website.

The other standard the certificate has been issued for is AS9100D, which is the international Quality Management System standard published by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) titled “Quality Management Systems – Requirements for Aviation, Space and Defense Organizations.” As you can tell, this standard has requirements that are specific to the air, space and defense industries. It applies to manufacturers, contractors and suppliers in the ASD industries. The requirements emphasize the prevention of risk and counterfeit parts, and also provides a structure that enables businesses to adapt to change, plan for obsolescence, and address product safety concerns.

AS9100 is supported by the International Aerospace Quality Group, or IAQG, and AS9100 Rev D (2016) is the most recent version. The standard provides suppliers with requirements for creating and maintaining a comprehensive quality management system for providing safe and reliable products to the ASD industries, as well as civil and military aviation requirements.

The Toolroom is proud to meet the quality management system requirements as outlined in both sets of standards and believe being certified as such reinforces our high-quality work and gives our customers the added confidence in our standard of quality.
